Re: Replace mp3
I think MP3s will always be the most popular like JPEG and GIF because people don't really like changing their habbits.
FLAC could replace MP3, but FLAC file sizes are a lot bigger than MP3.

Re: Replace mp3
If storage media becomes big enough, Flac would be considered the same file size that MP3 is now.

Re: Replace mp3
I think FLAC may shorten your battery life faster on your smartphone, FLAC audio player, and tablet because of the higher bitrate, and sound quality of FLAC. MP3 players can play songs at 192 kbps, and still sound very good. MP3 players also have very good battery life when you just use them for playing MP3s.Skeithex wrote:If storage media becomes big enough, Flac would be considered the same file size that MP3 is now.
The battery life of devices need to be longer before FLAC becomes the most popular audio file format if FLAC shortens the battery life of devices like smartphones and audio players.

Re: Replace mp3
I've played plenty of Flac on my smartphone, I notice no increase of battery usage.
